Belief in extraterrestrials and the paranormal is often associated with those of dubious credibility and is used by world-view skeptics to discredit reports and claims by people who share other-worldly experiences.
But what if respected, accredited, and widely trusted members of society were believers? Do the opinions of astronauts, politicians, and government scientists offer credence?
Below is a growing list of high-ranking officials, scientists, engineers, politicians, and astronauts, whose credibility may serve to convince others that more than fringe paranoids believe in the paranormal.
UFOs and Aliens
Lachezar Filipov – Bulgarian Government Scientist
Prof. Lachezar Filipov is the deputy director of the Space Research Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and has been an outspoken proponent of the existence of aliens on our planet. While being interviewed by The Telegraph he discussed his research into crop circles, which he believes are responses by aliens to questions posed to them by humans.
Prof. Filipov discusses his claim that a false flag operation will take place, orchestrated by state militaries to deceive global citizens that Earth is under attack by extraterrestrials, in an interview below:
Paul Hellyer – Canadian Minister of National Defence
Paul Hellyer, a Canadian engineer, politician, and believer in UFOs and extraterrestrials, has made incredibly bold and confident claims in regards to intent and motivations of aliens who visit Earth. Mr. Hellyer is reportedly not only knowledgeable about what aliens want and their behavior, but also in the different species who visit and where they come from, as can be seen below:
Mr. Hellyer served Canada for years in various distinguished political rolls, and continues his efforts to serve mankind by warning of the pitfalls we may encounter, as can be seen in this interview with Russia Today.
Edgar Mitchell – American Astronaut
The sixth person to walk on the moon, Edgar Mitchell, was an aviator, test pilot, aeronautical engineer, and ufologist. Dr. Mitchell has been interviewed regarding his views on aliens numerous times by news agencies such as CNN, Huffington Post, askmen, and Fox News, as seen below:
During investigation of emails leaked by WikiLeaks in October of 2016 it was discovered that a representative of Dr. Mitchell had been attempting to contact John Podesta, the chairman of the Hillary Clinton campaign, with the intent to discuss zero point energy and the disclosure of extraterrestrials by state governments.
Fife Symington – American Businessman and Politician
Mr. Symington, the 19th Governor of Arizona, has publicly stated that he witnessed the infamous Phoenix Lights while serving office. Symington, who isn’t afraid of a joke, attempted to lighten the mood of a near hysterical Phoenix by dressing up an aide in an alien custom with handcuffs shortly after the mysterious event.
Though he didn’t go public with his sighting immediately, he later said “It was bigger than anything that I’ve ever seen. It remains a great mystery. Other people saw it, responsible people. I don’t know why people would ridicule it.” in an interview with the Arizona Star

Ghosts and Demons
Bobby Jindal – American Politician
While demons and possessions are familiar subjects for believers of the paranormal, for the 55th Governor of Louisiana, Bobby Jindel, they are something to be confronted. Mr. Jindal detailed in an article titled Beating a Demon: Physical Dimensions of Spiritual Warfare his triumphs over evil while attending Oxford University. In this article he recounts his ultimately successful efforts to exorcise a demon from his friend “Susan”.
Suddenly, Susan emitted some strange guttural sounds and fell to the floor. She started thrashing about, as if in some sort of seizure. Susan’s sister must have recognized what was happening, for she ordered us to gather around and place our hands on Susan’s prostrate body.
While Mr. Jindel never specifically uses the word exercise in the description of his encounter with Susan’s friends and family, it is difficult to describe it as anything else. He said it solidified his belief in “the reality of spirits, angels and other related phenomena.”
